A Guided Studio Process
Commissioning a custom table should feel clear, considered, and enjoyable. From the first conversation to the final installation, we guide each project through material selection, proportion, design refinement, and careful craftsmanship.
You do not need to arrive with every detail figured out. The process is designed to help shape the right piece around your space, your needs, and the character of the wood.
From Material to Placement
The Commission Process
Each table begins with the material. From there, we guide the commission through proportion, design, craft, and placement — shaping a piece that feels right for the room and true to the wood.
Start an Inquiry →Initial Conversation
We begin with a conversation about your space, size requirements, preferred style, timeline, and intended use. You do not need every detail figured out — this stage is about understanding the project and shaping the right direction.
Material Selection
Every table begins with the right material. We review available Ontario hardwood and select boards or slabs based on scale, grain, colour, figure, and suitability for the final design.
Design Refinement
Once the material is selected, we refine the table’s proportions, edge profile, base style, finish, and overall presence. The goal is a piece that feels natural in the room while still carrying the character of the wood.
Build & Finish
Your table is crafted in Ontario from carefully selected hardwood, with attention to structure, surface preparation, finishing, and long-term use. Each detail is considered for strength, stability, and visual balance.
Delivery & Placement
Once complete, your table is prepared for delivery and placement. We coordinate the details so the piece arrives safely and is brought into the space with the same care given to the build.
DESIGN COLLABORATION
Guided decisions, not guesswork.
Every commission is shaped through a clear conversation around scale, proportion, material, base design, finish, and how the piece will live in the room.
You do not need to arrive with a complete design — we help refine the direction and guide the important decisions.
We help refine:
Table size and room proportion
Material character and edge direction
Base style, finish, and long-term use
TIMELINE
Built with a clear project path.
Each commission is scheduled around material availability, design complexity, shop capacity, and the level of customization required. After the initial conversation, we outline the expected path before work begins.
Timing is confirmed before the project is approved.
Material selection and design refinement happen before the build is scheduled.
Delivery and placement are coordinated once the piece is complete.
